ABOUT ME

355868078_2137129236474483_2465866516542733797_n.jpg

My name is Mat and I was born in Poland in 1996. From a young age I’ve had a huge interest in art and design. I made my own board games in kindergarten and designed card games in elementary school. While I was too young to understand game design, it helped me develop my artistic skills and showed me that I could in fact make games myself.

At the age of 12 I moved to Sweden with my family and discovered RPG Maker XP just a few weeks later. While primitive in many aspects, it helped me discover my passion for game design, level design and pixel art. It taught me the basics of game development and showed the importance of feedback and iteration through now-defunct RPG Maker online communities.

Eager to learn more, I studied game design in highschool, where I learned the basics of 3D modeling and 2D/3D animation. After graduating I moved to Toronto to study classical art at The Academy of Realist Art, in order to pursue a career in concept art and illustration. I realized rather quickly that despite my love for art, I couldn’t stop thinking about game development and enrolled in a Game Design & Project Management program at Uppsala University Campus Gotland. After 3 years in Gotland, I moved to Stockholm and finished the Game Design program at Futuregames, which led to an internship and subsequently my first job in the industry.

Some random facts about me!

I'm a gigantic music nerd! My music collection holds over 500 vinyl records and over a 100 CDs. I also like to dabble in music production in my free time. A very easy way to befriend me is to show me a cool band I haven't heard yet!

When I was younger I practiced a rare Japanese sport called penspinning (you might have seen it on youtube), and once almost made it to the world tournament, losing my spot in the team by only a single vote!

Throughout my life I have lived in four countries - Sweden, England, Canada and Poland, where I was born. My favorite color is yellow and you will likely notice it if you meet me more than once!
